I'm curious about why you chose GTK in the beginning. Isn't Qt a better GUI library?

I'm not sure, if Qt was free at that time. I'm fine with GTKmm so far(except the crazy issues with cross-architecture). My IDE is quite simple.

Sure, if one day there will be some interests from people, it could be migrated to Qt
