Can I import my data from a database?

I accidentally deleted my docker container. Which is phenomenal stupidity. But I do have a copy of my sqlite database as wakapi.db, can I use this file to setup Wakapi again somehow and restore my data somehow?

Short answer: yes, you're lucky 🍀.

You can just start a new container and let it create new wakapi.db automatically, which you can then simply replace with your old one, followed by a restart. You'll only have to localize your container's storage volume.

For additional support, please share the docker run command that you're using to start Wakapi.

Looks like container was removed, not the volume. There maybe some hope.
I have it running but I'm locked out of my user. I did not bother setting up SMTP, is there an alternative way to reset password?

Yes, volumes persist unless you explicitly delete them.

If you can't log in despite reusing your old databases without any changes, I'd guess you're using a different WAKAPI_PASSWORD_SALT for your new container than what was used before.

There is no other convenient way to reset your password other than via mail. But there are some hacky alternatives:

1. Simply configure an ephemeral test e-mail service like ethereal.email, so you don't need a "real" SMTP server
2. Create a new user with different name, but same password. Copy the value of the new user's password database column the old user's database record. Delete the new user again.

Also, the SQL logic error: too many SQL variables (1) error is suspicious. Are you perhaps running a newer / older Wakapi version now? I'd guess some database migrations weren't applied properly 🤔.

My guess is the salt changed, and hence the password doesn't work anymore.
My API key still does and hence I was able to import my data from my existing account to a new user account I created on the same Wakapi instance. Ideally, I find a way to reset password to my old (existing) user account and continue as my setup stood.
