I recently got a couple of Freenove 16MB ESP32S3 CAM boards and noticed they now come with a OV3660 3 MP camera. It did not require any software changes, and the application recognizes the camera as a OV3660. The max resolution indicated is 2048 x 1564. As I am trying not to overheat the ESP32, and don't require high definition, I am keeping the resolution to 640 x 480 and 5 fps. The instructions have not yet covered the OV3660, but the 5MP cam instructions call for some circuit modification. The 3MP version seems to be doing OK after 20 plus hours of burn-in testing, and the most noticeable difference from the OC2640 camera is the gain threshold setting, which allows me a to get video in lower light than the 2640, although noisier.
Has anyone else had any experience with the 3660 cameras? Are there any recommended modifications to either hardware of software that may improve stability and operation? I have noticed I occasionally get some colored lines through the video.
