Georgian & Cyrillic Scripts don’t look Right in Editor Control

    when caret is not in the same line as the Georgian script, Georgian script disappears, also both Georgian and Cyrillic scripts are rendered incorrectly
  • font_ligatures false
    caret does not need to be in the same line as the Georgian script, however both Georgian and Cyrillic scripts are rendered incorrectly

Notepad++:

• Titlebar: no comments!
• Tab (recently implemented option similar to cudatext plugin Suggest_Untitled_Filename checked) OK
• Tabs List [side panel] OK
• Editor Control OK [no surprises!]

Line about Izhevsky-factory is ok fo me, only bad that accent chars are having separate cells. But its by design. All accent chars are intended to have separate cells.

and with font 'DejaVu Sans Mono' it looks ok on Linux gtk2.

will test on Win. did you change "unicode_proportional" to false? if no, try 'false' value.
what is with another font? your font on screenshot looks very bad.

tested on Win10 PC.

• problem: with default "font_ligatures":true I see blank lines without caret. yes, a problem. I will search the www why this happens with Georgian.
• when "font_ligatures":false , all is OK here: tested with fonts 'Courier New' and 'Licuda Console'. all Ge chars are smaller than En chars, but they fit into cells.

• Regarding font_ligatures, confirmed [as already said]
• unicode_proportional setting makes no difference
• Regarding font DejaVu Sans Mono, also confirmed, with other fonts as well, but not all other fonts [regarding Georgian text].

Windows Notepad with CodeNewRoman Nerd Font Mono does the same, only the Georgian text does not appear even when caret is in the same line!

Only Notepad++ renders CodeNewRoman Nerd Font Mono correctly — possibly because this font is the only OpenType font with an OTF extension [see #6020]?

Finally, cudatext with Courier New correctly renders Cyrillic text without extra spacing!

No, its still rendered with extra spacing per each accent char, the difference is - now accent chars are rendered over the next cell with a letter... And again - spacing per accent char is by design, because of text tendering Api in my IDE and Windows.

can you reproduce empty line with this primitive demo for Win64:

demo shows Ge text in TSynEdit control. you can press a button to change the font. empty line is repeated with any font?
or with different Ge text?

This form generally renders OK.

For completeness, the only abnormalities I have observed, with the fonts on my system [number of which is not inconsiderable, since I have LibreOffice installed], are in the following list — but these are expected:

• @MS Gothic, @MS PGothic [show squares, also Greek not correct]
• @NSimSun [shows nothing — empty — also Greek not correct]
• @Yu Gothic [squares]
• Marlett [squares, also Greek not correct]
• Modern [shows dots, but also transliterates Greek to latin with diacritics]
• Roman, Script, Terminal [like Modern]
• Webdings, Wingdings [these two, expectedly, produce “dings” — out of any text!]

Form [project1] with CodeNewRoman Nerd Font Mono [ლარი is rendered incomplete for font sizes > 11, also when selecting this font Script > Greek correctly sticks to Greek when re-opening font selection dialogue box — unlike issue #6020]:

Accented characters rendered with extra spacing is, from a text processing standpoint, obviously wrong — why should it be so?!

Rus text.
These are not accented chars, but pairs, ie usual russian chars (without accent) and accent char. Accent char has separate cell in Cudatext. I am not sure i want ro change it, it is handy - user can easyly select accent char as separate char and delete/copy/paste it.

I see that SublimeText & TSynEdit render accent-chars much better (on Linux). need to improve this rendering. I will study this topic. thanks for this bugreport.

Yet I'm not sure I will fix the accents-in-separate-cell. yes, it works not like in other editors, but no so bad. accents in separate cells is useful for example here, code of the Greek_remove_accents plugin:

by looking at the code I see that one char has TWO accents after it. other editors don't show this, they show accents in the same cell as the letter.

You are referring to the 6th [non-empty] line after def do_formats):, s = s.replace('Ϊ́' , 'Ι').

This is Greek capital iota with tonos and dialytika [or diaeresis], a character which cannot/does not exist [issue #6029: in all uppercase Greek you never use any accent, also a iota at the beginning of a word can never have dialytika] — if, for instance, you try to convert ΐ [U+0390: Greek small iota with tonos and dialytika] to capital, it will simply refuse to convert [although it should convert to U+03AA: capital with dialytika only]!
