Description
The degree of an element is the number of connections it has. This could either be the count of the connections or the sum of the weights of all the connections. Some research has suggested that the degree of of the artifacts in complex engineered systems follows a scale-free distribution. This paper has a description of what this means as well as some links to other papers with more evidence:

It would be an interesting feature to be able to plot this from within the DSM Editor tool and maybe even try to fit it to the inverse exponential function.
