I'll repeat this suggestion:

I guess gnupg 2.5.* might be as good an opportunity to switch to upstream MSYS2's gnupg (i.e. to drop shadowing gnupg and its related packages like libgcrypt in Git for Windows' Pacman repositories). We don't code-sign the bits of this package or anything, and the only motivation I had originally to host Git for Windows-owned versions was that once upon a time, MSYS2 was way slower than me to build new versions (but that situation has been reversed in the meantime).

The remaining reason to keep our separate version of the gnupg package in Git for Windows were the 32-bit builds, but we dropped all but the MinGit builds (which do not include gpg.exe), therefore that reason no longer applies.

Okay, cool!

I just realized (waaaay too late, after getting msys2/MSYS2-packages#5244 to build successfully) that v2.5.5 is not on the stable version train and hence we're already at the newest stable version.

So there really is nothing left to do in this ticket; All there is to do to stop shadowing MSYS2's version of gnupg is already tracked in #5395 (comment).
