Check that default attribute values are styled correctly. Various JIRA issues have referred to this editorial problem, including OFFICE-3739 and OFFICE-4079. [NOTE: Editorial issues in JIRA are to be closed and moved to the Github issues for ODF 1.5.] This also relates to (deferred) JIRA issue OFFICE-4081.

Comment: Error in automated conversion by LibreOffice from .odt to .html. Was originally JIRA issue OFFICE-4172. In discussion during ODF TC call on 08/Aug/25 it was agreed that there is a need to check for similar systematic errors in conversion from .odt to .html. The LibreOffice application does not currently support conversion of an overline. A decision will be needed as to whether this can be fixed in the application in time for ODF 1.5 or must be fixed by manual editing of the .html file.

Comment: The superscript "e^iθ" is not correct in the .html, but is correct in the .pdf. This appears to be another systematic error in the .odt to .html conversion. In the .odt document the superscript is styled using <style:text-properties style:text-position="33% 80%" .../>.

I have created https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=167923 for LibreOffice. But I think we should solve it in the specification by using a Math equation instead of plain text. (Regina, 2025-08-12)

Comment: Examples from Part 4, ODF 1.4 in the .html version include both numbered and bulleted lists, e.g. the following lists:

• Section 1.3: numbered list - no indents or tabs
• Section 2.4: bulleted list - no indents, but tabs following labels
• Section 3.2.3: numbered list - no indents, but tabs following labels
• .Section 4.11.7.2: bulleted list - no indents or tabs
• Section 4.11.7.5: numbered list - no indents or tabs
• Section 4.11.7.7: numbered list - no indents, but tabs following labels

Note that in the last two examples the numbered lists appear to be formatted the same in the .pdf version, but differently in the .html version.

I suspect that these inconsistencies are partly caused by the widespread occurrence of automatic styles. For example, in Part 4, ODF 1.4 CS01, the style for the list in Section 4.11.7.5 is automatic style L9, whereas for the list in Section 4.11.7.7 it is named style 'Example Numbering'. The paragraph styles for the text of the first item in each of these lists also differs: automatic style P90 in the first case, automatic style P91 in the second case.

Comment: The problem seems to be caused by the way that the named style 'SyntaxRule' is defined, as this is based upon a parent style 'Teletype', which uses the font 'Liberation Mono', compared with 'Courier New3' used by 'Attribute' (for example). Should the style 'SyntaxRule' be used? The name is inconsistent with other named styles and I would have expected it to be 'Syntax_20_Rule'.

I believe this issue affects all occurrences of the use of the style 'SyntaxRule'.
